Hydrogel Plants
These are hydrogel plants that use hydrogel
as its soil. The hydrogel already contain some fertilizer, and the
shape and texture looks like some kind of yummy colorful jelly, only
it's not edible. It comes in many colors, too bad i haven't
got the sample of other colors in the pic. The advantage of using these
hydrogel as soil is that we dont have to water it everyday (perfect for
a forgetfull person like myself), because the hydrogel itself already
contain lots of water in it. After awhile, about 3 weeks-4 weeks
without watering, the hydrogel will get a bit dry on the top and
reduced it's quantity. When this happen, you will know that it's about
the time to water it again. Pour some amount of water in it (about 1,5
medium size glass?) and give it some time (1 hour) to let the gel
absorb all the water and notice that the gel will gradually recover to
its original quantity. Be carefull not to pour too much water because
when the gel gets too watery, it can cause rotten root. If you
accidentally pour too much water, it's ok, just let it absorb for 1
hour, and then get rid of the excess water by filtering it. A healty
hydrogel will looks like chunks of crystals. It tooks me couple times
trial&error before i understand this.
The white hydrogel in the pic was the one i made for ollie (she bought it as a gift for her aunt - hope she like it) and the green hydrogel plant behind the white one was the plant we took care together at office. Well, i dont know what is the name of these plant, but i love it, they are so adaptive to new envorinment and they are indoor plant!! no need exposure of sun.
